This is a portrait of Molly, done in 'Sketch & Wash' technique. I will donate this portrait to the annually auction for a catshelter: all revenues are for that shelter.

Pientje

I finished this portrait of Pientje, I did for a friend of mine. It was also done with the 'Sketch&Wash' pencil.

Sketch & Wash

Last time we were in the States, I bought myself a 'Sketch & Wash' pencil: some sort of graphite pencil. After applying the graphite, you can add water to create a more watercolor effect and it deepens the black tones of the graphite. I tried this out on a quick sketch of Max - the loveliest dog I've ever met.

Pinecones

I have been too occupied with creating ATCs that I hardly have time to do other art... but during my last drawing classes I did this watercolor painting of some pinecones. I found the branch in the woods last year and kept it for a long time. It's 22 x 30 cm.

A lot to show

It has been more than a month since my last post... but I haven't been idle!

Been creating lots of ATCs and traded them with wonderful cards from over the world. And I tried to keep up my sketching, although I haven't been to the zoo: I used pictures I took.

Art classes have started and there I am working on an oil paint. I will show the progress on the right side of my blog, in the column 'On my desk'.

More ATC's

I keep having fun with creating ATC's. Last weeks I did several of them, mostly in watercolor, some with ink (& watercolor). Here a collage of some of them.

Sketching in the Zoo

Last saturday we went to the zoo, to catch up and to sketch! Too bad the tiger twins didn't show themselves, but all the other animals were lovely models. Here some sketches, and at the end some photos I took.

ATC - Poppy

In our garden, some poppies are growing. I know I should consider them as weed and remove them, but I like them so much. I had to paint them.
Again an ATC, but this time I tried to add as much detail in it as possible. I even used a magnifying glass.

It is not traded yet...

ATC - Birds

Made two new ATC's - this time of birds, in watercolor.
I hope I can trade these for some great cards for my collection (which is growing steadily).

ATC 'Sweet Pea'

Just finished: this ATC of 'Sweet Pea' - an African Grey.
It is going to be traded with a beautiful watercolor painting.

ATC - tulips in watercolor

Finished today, this ATC of some tulips. It is done in watercolor. It will be traded for an ATC I haven't seen yet, but I am sure it will be a wonderful trade.

I finally designed myself a logo, it is in the banner. I also added some bright orange, to give it some contrast. Hope you like it!

Farm

Finished this week: a drawing/painting of a farm. It is done in ink and watercolor. Format: 30 x 40 cm.

I experimented with ink and watercolor, I was allowed to use one of the lovely photos of Lucy as a reference.

ATC: cockatoo

When we were in the USA this spring, we've visited a shelter for parrots. I love those colourful animals and I took so many pictures that day.
I got a request to paint a bird for an ATC trade, so I picked one of the pink cockatoos. This one is going to be traded for this lovely seahorse.

Paint-and-draw-together #001

This spring I found this blog, Paint-and-draw-togehter by Lela (PADT). Every few weeks she posts a beautiful picture and 'challenge' everyone to paint or draw that picture. I've seen so many pictures last months, but never had time to participate. Until last week....

Painting classes have started again and we can bring our own material and topics to paint or draw. Since I like to try new things now and then, I decided to participate at PADT. Here is my result:

ATC Autumn

When I came across this ATC (link), I knew I wanted this one! The creator of this ATC was open for a trade and she asked me to do an autumn leaf which I had done before. Because I didn't want to do a copy, I picked a new leaf and here it is: an autumn leaf.
