Molly
This is a portrait of Molly, done in 'Sketch & Wash' technique. I will donate this portrait to the annually auction for a catshelter: all revenues are for that shelter.

Figo - portrait in oil
A few weeks ago I showed my first animal portrait in oil - the robin.
I liked working with oil so much that I treated myself with a wider palette of colors. And I painted this portrait of Figo.
Figo is a resident of 'Kattentehuis Vergeet-Me-Nietje' (Catshelter Forget-Me-Not) - a shelter for cats that cannot be (re)placed for what ever reason. I am gonna donate this painting for an online auction for another catshelter - a shelter for kittens. All revenues will be for this catshelter. The online auction will start on World Animal Day (4th October).

ATC Batman
And another ATC!
This time it is 'Batman', done in pastel, black and white. Only for the eyes I've used a pinch of color.
I can't wait to receive the card 'Batman' will be traded for!

Logo design
A few months back, I donated this drawing of a kitten for an auction. All revenues were for a catshelter.
One of the volunteers of this catshelter has started a new shelter. It is providing a home to cats that can't be (re)placed for whatever reason. This new shelter has six permanent habitants and the people run the shelter without any subsidy - they are completely depending on donations.
For raising money they have these projects and they needed a logo - I was picked to design their logo: here it is (translation of the name: 'catshelter Forget-Me-Not').

ATC - Cat (yes, another one...)
It has been so hot and humid the last two weeks, that I hardly have been working on any of my projects. This weekend temperature has dropped and I started working again on my larger projects, like Mika (see column on the right) and a birthday card (no, can't show that one - should stay a secret). But in between, I love working on an ATC. This one is called 'Hemi' and I created it for Victoria, Hemi is her cat.

ATC Page (and a visitor)
I love working on ATCs! In a reasonably short period of time, I can put a furry portrait on this small piece of paper - and in exchange I get some beautiful art from other artists around the world!
This time I did a portrait of Page (referencephoto by Daisyree Bakker) and it will be traded with this wonderful horse. Page is now on his way to Finland!

Last weekend I did some 'wildlife' shooting in our own backyard and I managed to get this boy/girl photographed.

AW: Molly in ATC
It has been a long time since I've made an ATC... but Daisyree has gotten the 'ATC-virus' and she infected me. It was fun doing again, working on such a small piece of paper.
This ATC is not available anymore: Daisyree wants it and now I need to decide which one I want it to trade for. But she makes wonderful art, so that won't be a problem.

AW: Donder&Bliksem
Finished today: the portrait of the two brothers 'Donder & Bliksem' (free translation of their names: 'Thunder & Lightning'). When I heard their names, I can imagine they are a handfull for their owner.

Crazy Garfield
Yesterday I finished this drawing of Garfield. According to his owner, Garfield like to lie down in the most crazy ways. Garfield's owner asked me to portrait Garfield like this - we decided to pick a 'decent' picture of Garfield

Animal Wednesday and GiveAway
Last weekend the weather was so wonderful, that we went out for a walk to a nearby petting zoo. Made some pictures:
And I want to tell you about a wonderful give away, by the great illustrator Shirley Ng Benitez. She really has a soft style and her characters are always so adorable. Go over to her blog and check out her give away!

AW: Hummingbirds and Kitten
My SIL made this lovely movie in her backyard: I love these hummingbirds, just buzzing like bumblebees.
And yesterday, on World Animal Day, the auction started for raising money for a cat shelter. You can find my donated drawing HERE (number 250, 'Playing with Blue'), or take a closer look at the drawing here.
HAW!

Workshop pastel on velours
Two weeks ago I participated in a workshop 'pastel on velours'.
I have been drawing (animal)portraits on regular paper, but I heard so many things about pastel on velours that I wanted to try it. And a one-day workshop was perfect to become acquainted with this material.
We were asked to start a sketch at home, so during the workshop no time was lost with sketching.
I loved working with it, it was a complete new experience to me. See the result (so far, it is not finished yet, but I wanted to share it).

I made this drawing to be given away for an auction. The revenues will completely be donated to a cat-shelter (the objects on that site are from last years auction). The auction will start on October 4th (World Animal Day). I've already seen pieces from other artists and there is amazing artwork to be sold - I hope a lot of money will be raised.

That's why...
A few weeks ago I finished the portraits of Kenji (left) and Xiam (right). A few days ago I received this photo of both drawings, nicely in a beautiful frame. The people for whom I made these drawings are very happy with the result... and that's why I love drawing...
