What's wrong with this picture?

... nothing, you'd say. Perhaps "Some of the cupcakes are already missing - who ate them?"

I'll tell you what's wrong... last week my hubby came home and brought a newspaper (he gets it for free in the train). There was a special (click) in this newspaper about celiac's disease and that people should know more about it (a lot of people have it, without knowing). And there was a nice recipe for cupcakes - for cheap cupcakes - made with rice flour (glutenfree mix for cake of cupcakes is usally very expensive). So I thought: 'let me try that!'

Followed the instructions, added some lemon flavoring and put them in the oven. When time was up, I cut one open to see the structure of the cake and I was very pleased! But then I tasted one... strange taste... I had totally forgotten to add the sugar....Smiley

Ready for Christmas

Today I had a day off and I spend it well: lying on the couch, watching my favourite TV-series AND I made myself a glutenfree, tasty Christmas bread. Filled with almond past, pecans, cranberries and colored candied cherries. Yum!

Celiacs: we are trendsetters!

I found this link to a news item on a blog from someone who has to follow a glutenfree diet because of celiacs disease, just like me. It looks like a 'fun' and 'cool' diet, but... see for yourself:

Trial for Christmas

Since december 2006 I have to follow a glutenfree diet and therefore there were many things I couldn't eat anymore. One of them was a typical "Christmas bread" filled with almond paste. So the last years I passed Christmas without it, but this year I wanted one on my table for breakfast again. So I searched the internet, found a recipe and tried to make one today - and it worked! It looked good AND it tasted good.

Now I know, I will have "Christmas bread" this year!

Back in business

I am sorry it has been for almost a month since I have posted anything... there were so many things on my mind that I didn't have time to draw, to blog or to be on the internet. I also had a lot of visits in the hospital for several tests because I have not been feeling well the last few months. Last week I got my diagnosis: I also have Sjögren's Syndrome - next disease in my list...

But I'll learn to live with it ...

Yesterday we came back from a break and I am back in business - I'll start drawing again, posting new things in my blog and read all of your posts!

Gastroscopy

Today I had to go to the hospital for my gastroscopy. They wanted to check my intestines because of my continuing complaints about losing weight (I lost 8 kilos) and I am more tired then otherwise. Despite of a small anesthesia I was awake during a part of the procedure and that was no fun. Now I am sleepy and I have a sore throat. In a few weeks I will get the results.
